1.) Robyn Aguiar to Retire
Robyn Aguiar, Medical Library Professional, plans to retire in June 2024. Since February 2016, Robyn has provided excellent service to library patrons in the form of evidence-based medical literature searching. In addition, she has offered workshops to residents/fellows/medical students on library services, how to navigate medical literature databases, and copyright issues. In the last several years, Robyn has designed and offered a variety of Makers Lab creative sessions to support wellness efforts at UCSF Fresno. In retirement, Robyn plans to spend more time with her husband while enjoying golf, training their new dog, and travelling.
We hope you will join us for a Retirement Celebration for Robyn on Friday, May 10 from 12:30-1:30pm in the library.
2.) 3D Printing Lab
Mobile HeaL (formerly CEP) recently commissioned the 3D Lab to create a personalized gift for their staff members. These RV keychains were a gift to thank the staff for their service and commitment to the program these last few years.
If you would like to learn more about the 3D printing services being provided here at UCSF Fresno or how to access them, please send email: [email protected]
3.) Recording Services
In an effort to further expand our services and provide more opportunities for members of UCSF Fresno the Library purchased equipment to facilitate recording services here at our main building.
We are currently looking for anyone who may be interested in piloting these services while we develop a more stable model for providing these services moving forward. Our current capabilities allow us to capture the audio of up to four individual speakers with optional video and screen share.
If you are interested or have an idea for a podcast, video lecture, or some other type of recording please contact [email protected]
4.) Makers Lab
Over the past several months, new workshops have been introduced in the UCSF Fresno Makers Lab by Robyn Aguiar and Sharon McClain. Among those were Table-Top Mini Canvas Painting and How to Sew a Pillow.
As always, faculty/learners/staff may drop-in to craft and create on a break or during lunch. Custom workshops can be reserved for groups. More info on workshops at UCSF Fresno and at UCSF can be found at https://fresnolibrary.ucsf.edu/workshops

5.) Large Scale Events Enjoy Library Space
In March the ROAD Conference gathered in the library for one of their sessions that had originally been planned for outdoors, however it had to be moved indoors due to rainy weather. Additionally, at a recent Doctors Academy event, students enjoyed rock painting in the library. Participants at both events were able to enjoy the many spaces available for recharging and networking.
6.) Reminder - Book Self-Checkout
Books in the UCSF Fresno library are available via the Book Self-Checkout System to individuals with a UCSF affiliate email address (@ucsf.edu). To check out a book, complete the SELF-CHECKOUT FORM, and an email will be sent to you within 1-2 days confirming your return date.
