1. Upcoming Library Workshops

Several workshops are offered each month on topics such as Overview of Library Services, Introduction to PubMed, UCSF Profiles and more. For more information, visit our workshop calendar

2. Redesigned Website and Increased Library Services

Our website has a new look! Our redesigned website makes it easier than ever to find information that you need such as a calendar of exciting workshops, access to local and national newspapers, Faculty publications, and much more. Medical literature search assistance is something that you may not think to use until you need it. The Medical Library Professionals, Robyn Aguiar and Sharon McClain, can provide many types of research assistance such as one-on-one help, PubMed or other database searching, how to formulate a research question, journal selection and more. Don't start your research with Google, use evidenced-based databases in one simple location by visiting Find Materials or email us at [email protected].

3. Resident Check-out Procedures

Since library staff are still working remotely, no library staff signature is needed on the resident check out form. Please return all overdue books to the library before completion of your residency training. The library staff will reach out directly to residents regarding any overdue items. If you have questions, send us an email at [email protected]

4. Faculty Publications and UCSF Profiles

UCSF Fresno faculty have authored a breadth and depth of publications. Be sure to update your UCSF Profiles page so that your publications can be captured. A listing of these articles from 2005 to current can be found by visiting publications

5. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Resources

The library staff is actively curating resources on behalf of the UCSF Fresno DEI Committee. Let us know if you have resources you would like to share on topics related to Health Disparities in the San Joaquin Valley, Physician to Patient Racial Concordance, and Patient Bias and Racism. We welcome and greatly appreciate any feedback and suggestions, particularly from the perspectives and experiences of those who identify as members of marginalized groups.

6. Journal Subscription Cancellations

Due to the continuous rising cost of electronic resources and the challenge of finding budgetary savings, UCSF has made the decision to unsubscribe to those journals that have had the lowest usage and those databases that are non-essential. A review of the process and a view of the full list of journal and database cancellations can be viewed here https://www.library.ucsf.edu/about/subscriptions/.

7. Transition from Print to Online Resources

Main campus has been transitioning to an electronic or online collection during the past year. Users prefer e-books over print and much of required reading is now available in e-book form. The UCSF Fresno Hildebrand Medical Library will continue to support a limited number of texts in circulation. To browse available e-book collections and for instructions on how to access e-books off campus visit:  https://guides.ucsf.edu/ebooks/overview
